Petrichor (/ˈpÉ›trɪkɔːr/) is the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. The word is constructed from Greek πέτρα petra, meaning “stone”, and ἰχώρ Ä«chōr, the fluid that flows in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology.
